As a lip artist, nothing excites me, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., more than the transformative power of modern lip enhancement techniques. This year has been a canvas of countless lip stories, each unique and beautiful in its own way. The secret? It's all in the artful combination of technique and product selection. These are some of my notes on injections this past year, as well as some of the work I’m most proud of.
The Ashton technique has been my faithful companion, allowing me to craft everything from subtle enhancements to bold transformations. When paired with Restylane Kysse, it's pure magic – creating height and surface area without that obvious "done" look. I love how it lets me work with a client's natural shape while giving them that extra oomph they're craving.
One of my favorite combinations is using Kysse for those clients seeking the perfect pouty transformation. We start by focusing on the lip lift, maximizing height from the cupid's bow, then carefully tapering the top tails for that coveted pouty look rather than elongation. The bottom lip gets special attention, too, pulling down into a rounded shape that creates that perfect 40/60 ratio.
For clients needing more dramatic volume restoration, Juvederm Ultra Plus is my go-to warrior. It's amazing how many clients come in thinking they need just a tiny touch, only to discover that achieving their dream lips requires more product than they initially imagined. The immediate post-injection swelling can be dramatic – usually 30-40 percent more than the final result – but patience is key.
I've developed a special love for creating crisp, defined borders. Sometimes, we'll get that temporary border swelling that likes to hang around for about three weeks, but the end result is always worth the wait. Whether we're aiming for a classic shape with longer lines or a pillowy pout with increased height, each set of lips tells its own story.
Remember, the most stunning transformations don't happen overnight. Like any masterpiece, beautiful lips are built layer by layer, session by session, with careful attention to detail and respect for natural anatomy. It's not just about injecting filler – it's about sculpting confidence, one lip at a time.
